A relay bronze, as the short track provides Italy with another medal. The Italian team made up of Arianna Fontana, Lucia Peretti, Martina Valcepina and Elena Viviani conquered the podium in the final of the 3000 metres, behind South Korea and Canada and after the disqualification of China. This is the sixth medal for Italy in Sochi 2014, and with it the tally has exceeded that of Vancouver 2010 which only reached five. Finally, one more milestone as Peretti, Valcepina and Viviani break through the wall of the 100 medal winners barrier in Italy's history at the Winter Games. Innerhofer was 99th. Today with three new Olympic medalists in one go, the total now comes to 102 Italian medals (of course, Fontana is already a multi-medalist).
