Sabbioni bronze 50 mt. backstroke. Europa on podium with Alvaro (gold), De Marchi and Crovari

IMG 2255Simone Sabbioni from Rimini wins the bronze medal at YOG in the 50 mt. Backstroke with 25.47 behind russian Evgeny Rylov (25.09) that goes off with his personal category record, and greek Apostolos Christou, silver with 25.44.
YOG champion in 100 backstroke, visibly annoyed for the chance lost, has received congratulations by the President of CIO Thomas Bach and by London's champion in 200 mt. Butterfly stroke Chad le Clos.
"Start and stroke did not work - said in mixed zone the 17 years old from Rimini - I was stiff and kept my shoulders too closed, what a pity! Even if I was well -trained I am not a machine. Anyway it is a real pity. Now I want to regain with 200 on friday. And I am the guilty for this bad 50. I can't neither blame my coach nor my training. This match is always hard, if you don't have a good start you don't have enough time to regain. However it is a bronze medal, not so bad!"
In the other finals at Nanjing Natatorium, Alessandro Bori, despite of a personal record of 22.66, finished 4th in 50 mens freestyle, while Rachele Ceracchia stopped the time at 2:01:32 in 200 women freestyle (7th place) with russian Mullakaeva.
Good news from NOC's competitions - a kind of match we have seen for the firts time at YOG of Singapore. In equestrian sports, riding Montelini (german horse son of Conair for Contender), Matias Alvaro from Bergamo wins the gold medal with team Europa in hurdle jumping.
At the same time, with the 18 years old trained by dad Hector and by the mgr of FISE young programme area, Gianluca Bormiolo Bonacolsi, have made the scene in Xinzhuang Equestrian venue irish Micheal Duffy (Commander), british Jake Saywell (Galaxy) swedish Filip Agren (Abel) and dutch Lisa Nooren (For the Sun).
Fencing - the programme closes with a mixed teams competition (men and women) for continents. In the final match, team Europa1 lining up the azzurra Eleonora De Marchi (silver) had to surrender to team Asia - Oceania1 (26 - 30) that wins the last title of Nanjing international Expo Centre. Bronze medal, instead, to Chiara Crovari and team Europa2, winning on Asia - Oceania2 (30-25). FIS ends Its second attendance at YOG with 4 podiums: 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.
